Warren County to hold Energy Literacy Workshop on Tuesday, October 20th, 2026

Utility bills continue to rise and winter is just around the corner, but there are a number of ways homeowners can cut energy use and costs and take control of their bills before the real cold sets in.

Warren County Department of Planning & Community Development and the staff of the Capital Region Clean Energy Hub have organized a free Energy Education Workshop on Tuesday, October 20th, 2026 at Chester Town Hall that will help property owners learn ways to save money and energy in your home as we head toward winter.

Advisors from Capital District Clean Energy Hub and National Grid, will be on hand to cover:

  • How to read and understand electric bills
  • How to make small changes in your home to increase efficiency
  • Assistance programs that can help make energy saving changes more affordable

Plans for the workshop arose from meetings of Warren County’s Climate Smart Task Force, which gathers quarterly at Warren County Municipal Center.

Said Matthew Smith, Warren County Senior Planner/Climate Smart Coordinator: “This energy literacy workshop is a great opportunity for Warren County home and business owners to learn more about energy efficiency, the available rebates and incentives, and how to access state programs and funding for home energy upgrades. There will also be opportunities to learn how to read your utility bill, improve comfort and efficiency in your home, become aware of energy waste reduction, and practical next steps for homeowners to pursue home energy efficiency upgrades at their home.”

The first 30 attendees to register will receive a kit for do-it-yourself energy saving measures, a personalized energy saving plan and resources to find more help if needed. Bring questions and your utility bill if possible.

Pizza will be provided.
